SCS Technologies (SCS), a leading provider of CO2 measurement systems, methane vapor recovery units and petroleum LACT units, today announced the adoption of Microsoft RealWear Navigator Z1 for its Factory Acceptable Tests (FATs). Watch a demonstration of a virtual FAT inspection on the SCS Technologies YouTube Channel.

As an early adopter of Microsoft’s industrial wearable technology, SCS can now conduct FATs remotely, increasing productivity while saving the valuable time and costly resources necessary to perform critical oil and gas system and component testing. A virtual inspection eliminates the need for expensive business travel while still providing a live, interactive FAT, including:

  • P&ID Walkthroughs
  • Powered Instrumentation Checks
  • Valve Cycling
  • Customer Directed Inspections
  • Panel Wiring Inspections

“SCS Technologies is dedicated to pioneering solutions that elevate customer value and reduce our environmental impact. The adoption of Microsoft RealWear in our product rollout process is a testament to this dual focus,” said Anthony Gilliland, Vice President of Sales at SCS Technologies. “By leveraging the cutting-edge RealWear technology, we can connect with a broader team during Factory Acceptance Testing, enhancing the thoroughness of these evaluations while minimizing carbon emissions and resource usage.”

At SCS Technologies, ensuring the effectiveness of FAT evaluations is crucial to our sales process, and virtual assessment must match the clarity and reliability of in-person tests. To this end, RealWear's high-definition display technology is a game-changer, providing sharp, accurate visuals comparable to on-site FATs. Furthermore, the durability of the RealWear Navigator technology guarantees consistent, reliable FAT performance, even in the demanding and often harsh conditions of oil fields. Engineers can effortlessly manage the RealWear device thanks to its user-friendly, hands-free commands and compact, lightweight construction, ensuring seamless operation.

To enhance the insights provided by RealWear technology, SCS Technologies offers customers static camera views for a comprehensive multi-view testing experience. Additionally, detailed checklists and sign-off sheets are provided to ensure a thorough FAT evaluation before the unit is shipped to the customer’s site.
