Propel Software, creator of the first product value management (PVM) platform, today announced its second major software release of 2024, transforming how businesses create, market, sell, and service products. Improving data flow for mission-critical and frequently-performed functions like customer communication, supplier collaboration, and product commercialization, these enhancements streamline business processes with a unified source of product truth.

“Propel continues to drive product companies forward while legacy product lifecycle management (PLM) providers stand still,” said Eric Schrader, Chief Product Officer at Propel. “We enable customers to securely and efficiently embrace a range of data sharing options to advance their business. With product data exchange (PDX) for communication to and from PLM systems, to turnkey supplier communities for engaging partners, to a rich set of application programming interfaces (APIs) for ingesting and distributing product information – our approach meets customers where they are.”

“Four Styles of High Performance IT: Transforming,” Forrester Research, Inc., June 25, 2024 Trend research stated, ”Tech leaders must actively invest in exploring emerging and mature technologies.” It reported that tech leaders should, “Adopt business-led API and integration strategy. In Forrester’s Developer Survey, 2023, 53% of respondents indicated that their API strategy is primarily driven by the business, not IT. Forrester also found a strong connection between revenue growth and the presence of an API strategy — regardless of who leads it. Business-led APIs and integration provide faster partner onboarding and enable new business models. The right integration architecture squeezes more value from legacy applications while transitioning to resilient cloud-native applications. It is the foundation of fluid omnichannel experiences that meet your customers where they are today — and where they will be in the future.”

Unifying Product Information Across the Product Lifecycle

Propel’s Product Information Management (PIM) API endpoints provide efficient and comprehensive access to categories, channels, digital assets, products, variants, and their attributes, ensuring product data is accurate and up to date anywhere in the lifecycle. The import API manages product data sources like enterprise resource planning (ERP), other PLM systems, marketplaces, and suppliers into Propel. Product companies can use the Propel PIM APIs to export to marketplaces, ecommerce sites, product configurators (CPQ), web sites, syndication tools, and print catalogs. Having accurate product data every time enhances data quality, reduces errors, and improves efficiency across all channels.

Strengthening Internal & External Collaboration

Propel Collections enables product companies to strengthen communication across internal and external teams with quick and easy data gathering, without the need for coding. Users can add multiple items, changes and manufacturing parts to a collection from an existing item or recently-viewed list, or by general search functionality. This is ideal for design reviews, or assembling quotes or bid packages for suppliers, and collaborating with contract manufacturers (CMs). Product information can then be shared with CMs and suppliers supported by Propel PDX export.

With support for PDX (product data eXchange) Propel PDX provides an XML-based industry standard data sharing format across systems within the business and with partner organizations such as original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) or suppliers. The Propel PDX package provides access to change records, associated affected items, BOM (Bill of Materials), AML (Approved Manufacturer Lists), attachments and their respective markups (additions, deletions, modifications, or no changes) and approval history.

Propel’s latest release is currently available, unifying product data continuously in motion throughout the entire product lifecycle, delivering a true product thread from design through to customer delivery and service. For more information, please visit propelsoftware.com.
